Nick is an associate at Bloch & White LLP. As an appellate advocate, he has earned five victories before the Montana Supreme Court, two of which resulted in his clients’ immediate release from prison. As a member of the CJA program, he served as co-counsel in five jury trials and won acquittals on serious federal charges.

Before founding his own practice, Nick was a public defender in Billings, Montana, where he consistently achieved strong results for his clients, including dismissals, favorable plea agreements, and reduced or non-custodial sentences. Prior to that, he clerked for Judge Amalya L. Kearse of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Judge Allyne R. Ross of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Werner Prize for the best paper in the field of criminal law. As a student, he represented clients in misdemeanor criminal cases through the Harvard Criminal Justice Institute, helped develop a challenge to the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s charging policies as a member of the Impact Defense Initiative Clinic, and served as a teaching assistant in Civil Procedure. He spent his law school summers at the Federal Defenders of New York and the Legal Aid Society Criminal Appeals Bureau.
